As visceral and emotional music can be for those listening to it, music can be ten times more powerful for those that create it. However, the vast majority of people will never experience the range of emotions, sensations, and connection that occurs when one creates music because for every child that learns an instrument there are several that never have the chance.

Throughout the last hundred years, different genres have had the honor to hold the mantle of most popular music in America. In July, history was made as Nielson reported in their mid-year 2017 music report that Hip-Hop has become the most popular genre in America for the first time in history.

When hearing a song and visualizing the band that recorded it the mind tends to go right to the lead vocalist/guitarist. Nirvana had Kurt Cobain, Black Sabbath had Ozzy Osbourne, and Aerosmith has Steven Tyler.

There is no question that Americans enjoy listening to music. We spend on average, 4 hours a day listening to music, are excited when our favorite song comes on the radio and look up to legendary & popular musicians.

Music is part of our daily lives. With the advent of smartphones, music streaming subscriptions, and YouTube, everybody has access the millions of pieces of diverse music spanning decades. While recent technological advances have given everyone access to a constant stream of music, the obsession with music is not a new fascination for our species.

In today's culture, there is a strong connection between sports and music. In fact, according to ESPN “sports are part of music...and music is increasingly part of sports.” Part of the reason for the relationship between sports and music is because of Music's Powerful Influence on Sports Performance.

Rob Aster, that's "Radical Rob" to his friends, isn't exactly the Augusta National type. He has a curly mane of salt-and-pepper hair. He loves jamming on his bass guitar and sharing colorful tales of his days in the music business. And you can forget about a green jacket — Aster is partial to the black leather variety. "I'm a rocker," he says. "I confess."

After the hits, with their shock-rocking rebel years behind them, a surprising number of musicians wind up on the golf course.
