Terry Herald
Terry Herald’s career as a composer and musician has spanned a vast range of musical styles, from Renaissance to contemporary, with works that incorporate elements of chamber, choral, orchestral, jazz, and world music. His versatility has led him to serve as music director for renowned artists such as guitarist Earl Klugh and flutist Alexander Zonjic, arranging, orchestrating, and conducting for numerous concerts. While his career began in film scoring, his focus has since expanded into orchestral and concert music, where he continues to create compelling compositions.
Herald has received numerous commissions, including works for the Detroit Symphony’s Civic Orchestra, the Metropolitan Youth Symphony, and the Lexington Bach Festival. He also composed a special piece for the Warren Symphony’s 40th anniversary and created Fantasie on Danny Boy for five antiphonal flute choirs in honor of Sir James Galway. His film scores include Air Force One: The Planes and the Presidents, Journey to Justice, and The First Rosa, showcasing his ability to enhance storytelling through music.
In addition to film, his compositions have been featured in television productions such as CBS Sports, ABC’s NFL Monday Night Football, the 1994 Winter Olympics, NBC’s Dateline, and the award-winning PBS series Bob’s Jobs.
