Through the Elite Eight, the 2026 men's March Madness tournament is averaging 10.3 million viewers across CBS, TBS, TNT, and truTV, marking the most-watched tournament since 1993. Viewership is up 9% from last year, with a record-setting 11 million viewers for the second round.
Key viewership stats:
Total Average: 10.3 million viewers through the Elite Eight.
Peak Viewership: Nearly 19 million viewers watched the UConn-Duke Elite Eight game.
Second Round: Averaged a record 11 million viewers, up 7% from last year.
First Round: Averaged a record 9.5 million viewers, up 9% from last year.
Key Windows: The Sweet 16 early Friday window averaged 14.2M viewers, the highest since 1992.
The tournament is experiencing a 33-year high in viewership.
The 2026 Elite Eight matchup between UConn and Duke was a massive ratings success, averaging 13.4 million viewers on CBS and peaking at 18.9 million. This thriller, which featured a buzzer-beater, stands as the most-watched game of the 2026 NCAA tournament to date, contributing to the highest tournament viewership since 1993.
